Merlin has been working in Ethiopia since 2003, improving health care for vulnerable people in some of the most under-served areas of the country. Currently more than 100 Merlin health and support staff work in coordination with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health in nine districts of two regions, all of which are heavily affected by poverty, drought and internal conflict.

CARE’s work in Ethiopia was established in 1984 in response to the widespread and acute famine between 1983 and 1984. Although CARE continues to carry out emergency feeding, the focus of our work in Ethiopia has shifted beyond emergency relief to longer term rehabilitation and development.

Children Aid- Ethiopia (CHAD-ET) is an indigenous non-governmental organization that is involved in protecting the rights and welfare of children found under difficult circumstances. Established 1995, CHAD-ET is registered by the Ethiopian government as a not for profit NGO.
